Nyanza Cultural Trails
Von Nyanza aus wandert man durch eine Kulturlandschaft mit kleinen Feldern und locker bebauten Bereichen sowie einzelnen Häusern. Dieser Weg ist ein Cultural Trail, die wesentlichen Sehenswürdigkeiten am Wegesrand sind das Kwigira Museum-Rwesero, der Kings Palace mit der Rekonstruktion des alten Königssitzes aus Strohhütten und den königlichen Rindern sowie das Mwima Mausoleum der Tutsi-Könige. Außerdem kommt man an Gewässern vorbei, u.a. am See Icyuci Cyma Nyamaganda, der von König Mutara III Rudahigwa nach einem Hungerjahr 1943 als Fischteich angelegt wurde. Etliche weite Aussichten runden dieses besondere Wandererlebnis ab.
From Nyanza, you walk through a cultural landscape with small fields and loosely built-up areas as well as individual houses. This trail is a Cultural Trail - the main sights along the way are the Kwigira Museum-Rwesero, the King’s Palace with the reconstructed old royal residence made of straw huts and with the royal cattle, as well as the Mwima Mausoleum of the Tutsi kings. You will also pass bodies of water, including Lake Icyuci Cyma Nyamaganda, which was created as a fishpond by King Mutara III Rudahigwa after a famine year in 1943. Countless wide views complement this special hiking experience.
